Job Description
The Company
Able Bridge Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a not-for-profit organisation based in Edinburgh in the recruitment of a permanent finance manager. The role will be pivotal in the day to day running of the organisation`s finance department and will report into the director of finance.

The post holder will be office-based Monday – Friday and will have hands on responsibilities for the day to day processing of financial transactions.

The organisation is little known out from its sector and boasts an idyllic working environment. The successful applicant will be managing a small finance team and will be expected to support the finance director with specific new projects.

The Responsibilities
The purpose of this role is to ensure that the finances of the charity are appropriately managed and that key financial information is provided to the senior leadership team, board members and trustees allowing for key decision support.

On a day-to-day basis you can expect to be responsible for the following;
Ensuring that the payroll of approximately 120 employees is processed in a timely manner.
Work closely with the management accountant in ensuring board packs are produced and distributed to the finance director.
Responsible for ensuring that month end processes are completed.
Be accountable for the processing of payables invoices and associated reconciliations.
Maintain the petty cash, with an oversight on making sure expenditure is accounted for and there is sufficient cash in the petty cash.
Work closely with the finance director in the streamlining of certain accounting functions such as payroll as well as being heavily involved in some capital expenditure projects.
Manage the accounting team and function by delegating where possible but actively being involved in the day-to-day workings of the department.

The Requirements
It is not essential that you are a qualified accountant, however you will have demonstrable experience of managing and leading a finance department. You will be expected to post invoices as well as assisting the finance director with month end and year end duties. As such, we are seeking an individual who has experience of the full 360 degree accounting functions. The system that our client uses is Xero, however they do operate a specific payroll system as well. It would be distinctly beneficial if candidates have exposure to either Xero, Sage or Quickbooks. One of the most important factors however is the individual who will be successful in being awarded this role needs to have a dedication and determination to help the charity in the delivery of their service.
