European Indirect Tax Accountant Job in Crawley, West Sussex

Job Description
LHH are currently working with a global organisation to recruit a European Indirect Tax Accountant on a permanent basis. Reporting into the Finance Director you will take ownership of VAT and intrastat reporting across Europe.

This is a brand new role to finance and you will be tasked with improving and automating its current processes and procedures and also reducing the reliance on external tax suppliers across Europe. This is not just a standard BAU VAT reporting role but one in which you will really engage with the business across Europe and also become involved in a multitude of projects.

Key responsibilities include:

Oversees the European branch reporting and filing requirements for VAT, Intrastats, and other statutory submissions. Responsible for timely and accurate submission of all regulatory and statutory financial data for respective regions
Acts as point of contact for European VAT queries for the business. Work with external advisors to answer questions from authorities regarding statistical and indirect tax matters
Special projects – works with SAP team to ensure accurate output from new system improves Intrastat processes and accuracy, drives 'making tax digital' improvements, looks for automation opportunities in workflows. Designs operational procedures and processes that meet regulatory, audit standards, and improve efficiency.
Support for EU finance team on reconciliations, reports, analysis as requiredKey skills / experience:

Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) would be advantageous
EU VAT experience is essential
Proven experience of process change / process improvements within finance
Knowledge of SAP is highly desirable but not essentialThe role is located in Crawley and the company offer hybrid working of 3 days in the office. There is also an expectation that you will on occasion be available to travel to some of the other European offices as required.

Salary is circa £60k plus benefits and a generous bonus
