The main purpose of the Underwriting Specialist is to assess financial risk associated with extending customer credit and financing.  You will be responsible for ensuring that the quality of the decisions is in accordance with the company's policies.

Ideally you will have 3 years experience in an underwriting or credit analyst position in financial services.  Experience in the automotive or consumer finance industry would be an advantage together with practical experience with scorecard design and testing.

Ensure underwriting work queues are reviewed in accordance with agreed work queue status review targets
Self manage own work queue
Answer inbound dealer and Account Manager enquiry calls
Answers inbound payout and activation enquiry calls as required
Ensures Team Leader is aware of any potential issues
Person Specifications:

To have the ability to review metrics/financial ratios and supporting information
Sees non-apparent relationships between data and information
Understand financial statements ie. balance sheets, income statements, cash flow
Able to interpret CRA and HPI reports, extracting non apparent information when making lending decisions
Understand underwriting and credit practices and procedures
Confident in making credit decisions
Ability to talk and type at the same time
Good documentation, writing and speaking skills
