Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Underwriting Assistant to join our busy and expanding team based in the Lincoln office. This position will be offered on a 12-month secondment, however this is open to negotiation for the right applicant.
The role will include the day-to-day handling of Underwriting and administration duties within the Underwriting department, including managing and prioritising own workloads and adhering to group and insurer procedures and regulatory requirements.
We are looking for an individual who is a quick-learner, has a proactive approach to challenges and has the ability to analyse information to make thorough and informed decisions.
Key responsibilities:
Review and underwrite referrals received from all area of the business, within authority levels agreed
Ensure all referrals are completed within our Service Level Agreement
Apply and action renewal terms within accordance of FCA and group guidelines
If a referral is outside of individual authority, refer to the Senior Underwriting team/Insurer within agreed timescales
To provide excellent customer service over the telephone to internal and external customers where required
To input and maintain accurate information in to all systems and administer accurate policy documentation
Identify and make recommendations for improvements to current working practices if required
Support the Team Leader and Managers with ad-hoc projects and coaching
Skills and Experience:
At least 1 years’ experience in a Personal or Commercial Insurance role
Experience in an Underwriting role is preferable but not essential, as in-depth training is provided
5 GCSE’s or equivalent (grade c or above) including Maths and English
Prepared to study towards professional insurance qualifications to attain Cert CII
Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written
Experience with successfully multi-tasking in a job with varied responsibilities and deadlines
Great time-management and organisational skills
A mature, positive, ‘can-do’ attitude working in a team environment
