Job Description
Our client, a specialist Domestic Violence charity based in Warwickshire, is looking for a Service Manager to join their team. The post holder will provide high quality support and safety planning to women and children in crisis. This includes enabling women to access housing, welfare, benefits,
and legal advice. A key requirement is to provide personal welfare support and to ensure that women are provided with a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment.
Responsibilities and Job Duties:
Line Manager to Deputy Manager, IDVAs and, Early Intervention worker, Children’s Support worker
Managing the delivery and development of high-quality support to women and their children who are experiencing violence and men who experience violence in their relationships, in accordance with operational policies and procedures
Ensuring the continuity, high quality and improvement of services in accordance with quality management system and any other relevant quality standards
Ensuring Casework Management and Quality policies are implemented, ensuring that a high-quality service is being provided and that case records are clear professional and up to date
Ensuring that all services are sensitive and responsive to the needs of the people using them, that user feedback is gathered systematically, recorded and acted upon and that the policies, procedures and philosophy of our client are understood fully and implemented by staff
Providing personal welfare support and ensure that service users are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment
Ensuring that the services provide a safe and secure environment for women and children escaping domestic abuse and other forms of gender-based violence in compliance with housing law and the requirements of funders and registered social landlords
Contributing actively to policy development and review
Overseeing the safeguarding of children and adults at risk and support staff to ensure the safeguarding policies are followed
Providing management of a range of services, ensuring staff deliver the required outcomes within budget
Managing the budget in line with financial regulations
Monitoring services proactively, with the engagement of the staff team, and to ensure that the services meet the required specifications at all times and are shaped by the feedback of service users
Ensuring that the hub and workspaces used within the community or co-located with other agencies provide a safe and secure environment for staff, volunteers, and service users where applicable
Recognising, respect and address the needs of service-users who face barriers when seeking help to access the service, including those from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, LGBT communities, disabled people, women with complex needs and other hard to reach groups
Being an ambassador, working in partnership with other agencies to tackle violence against women and girls and attending meetings with housing associations, funders, local authorities, domestic violence fora and any other bodies
Maintaining confidentiality and to ensure that professional boundaries are observed when working with service users, staff, volunteers and external bodies and to work within Code of Conduct
Managing and developing staff in accordance with performance management scheme, ensuring their involvement in the continuous improvement of services
Supporting staff through monthly supervision meetings, ensuring that probationary reviews are carried out
Ensuring all staff complete specialist training program
Engaging the whole team in regular service review to promote best practice and continuous improvement of service
To implement and manage the sharing of knowledge and good practice towards improving service delivery
Selecting, recruiting and retaining staff in line with policies and procedure
Maintaining the security and well-being of survivors of domestic abuse and their children within the premises, immediately with the Senior Operations Manager any breaches of security, house rules or occupancy agreements especially where there is concern about safety
Controlling the access when on duty and remind residents to keep the building secure when staff are not present
Managing the operation of the refuge, including taking responsibility for refuge security including ensuring that the safe keys, master key system, office keys and transport keys are always kept secure, and ordering duplicate keys and lock changes where required
Overseeing the efficient working of any entry phone and CCTV systems daily
Supporting the management of health, safety and security within a refuge, including carrying out and recording regular fire and health and safety checks, ensuring that fire equipment and fire doors are in working order and not obstructed
Ensuring that all equipment is in safe working order and that periodic testing and maintenance is carried out
Ensuring that the accommodation is always attractive and comfortable and that a good standard of hygiene is maintained in the refuge
To carry out cleaning and other light manual duties when required
Arranging and supervising contractors, carrying out maintenance, window cleaning and cleaning of communal areas
Promoting and supporting equality and empowerment within all areas of work
Representing and being an ambassador, working in partnership internally and externally with other agencies to ensure an effective coordinated community response to survivors of sexual violence and their children
Developing and maintaining positive, collaborative working relationships with all staff both locally and across the wider organisation, being committed as part of the team to providing a high level of support to survivors
Actively participating in performance management processes including regular supervisions and development. (Please note this will involve travel to London)

Essential Requirements:
Good standard of general education
Extensive experience of sensitively assessing and responding to the needs and risks of women and children experiencing domestic violence or other strands of violence against women and girls
Significant proven experience of providing direct emotional and practical support to people seeking support/advice e.g. via social services or the voluntary sector
Experience of managing service provision
Experience of managing the security and well-being of survivors of domestic violence or other strands of violence against women and girls
Experience of managing complex casework, including issues such as child abuse, mental health, substance abuse, working with trauma in adults and children and crisis intervention
Proven experience of safeguarding children and adults at risk
Proven experience of advocating for clients
Experience of preparing effective reports for case conferences or similar proceedings in which women and children may be involved
Experience of managing and developing teams and individuals
