Job Description
Our client has a fantastic new opportunity for a Senior Accounting and Payroll Technician to join family run growing SME logistics company in Corby.
As the Senior Accounting and Payroll Technician you will join a small friendly team. Reporting into the Management Accountant, you will be assisting in the provision of sound financial and management information, along with the development of forecasts, budgets and cashflows to allow the company to strategically grow.
In addition you will be required to take ownership of the weekly payroll and debtor management process for the company as well as completing ad-hoc reporting. Its essential that you have a good understanding of Microsoft Excel, with a strong knowledge of pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
The role
Work with both finance and non-finance department heads to develop rolling forecasts for the year including setting and monitoring quarterly and yearly budgets and highlight areas for cost savings
Provide support to the Management Accountant where required
Completion of bank reconciliation's, journals and posting of receipts
Assist with VAT returns
Monitor and analyse company / department financial transactions and assist internal stakeholders on areas affecting their department
Ongoing development of financial reporting and analysis tools along with helping to develop, support and improve business processes to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Weekly production of payroll and commission reports
Debtor management
Assistance with project work including system integrations (paperless)
The successful candidate will posses the following skills and experience:
AAT qualified level 2 or 3 or working towards
2 years experience in similar accounting role
Exposure to cashflow forecasting, budgets and strong knowledge of payroll
Advanced Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, basic macros)
Experience of Sage 50 (desirable)
Extremely organised and self-motivated, with strong interpersonal skills and able to work in a small team
