Job Description
My client is a a large secondary Academy looking to recruit a talented School Business Manager to oversee the non-teaching internal functions of the school and strategically to help the school plan for the future.

Reporting into the Head, this role will offer plenty of local autonomy with broader support from across the small Trust. You will have the support of an onsite support services team, who will undertake much of the day to day requirements for their given internal functions, but you’ll work closely with them to discuss strategic improvements to processes and procedures as well as ensuring the cohesion between the departments on joint projects.

This is a broad role and will take in responsibility for Finance, Health and Safety, HR, Premises and IT. The finance side is a prominent requirement, as along with producing monthly accounts and all associated reporting for the senior leadership team and any external bodies, you will also continually strive to get best for money on all school contracted services and products. You’ll work closely with individual budget holders, offering advice and input across the school year. The school additionally has a number of facilities that are revenue generating and you’ll use your business and commercial acumen to help maximise these returns.

This role offers the chance to make a significant impact on the pupils education and you’ll work closely with the Head on creative ways to enrich the offering to the children, through purchasing of new equipment, services and improvements to facilities.

Applications are sought therefore from candidate who have School Business Management experience and are looking for a role that offers a move towards a slightly more strategic role. You’ll be used to working with a variety of stakeholders and be able to challenge and support in equal measure. You’ll need a commercial mindset and one that seeks out opportunities and foresees potential risk with ease. Finance will be an undoubted strength, but you’ll enjoy working across the school in this prominent position.
