Principal Cloud Engineer- Permanent Role

London based – 2/3 days a week on site but flexible

£85,000 to £90,000 per annum (based on experience & location) + 20% bonus scheme

You and your team

Reporting into our Cloud Engineering Lead this is a different role to what you would expect, you will be promoting infrastructure as code across the team. You will get the chance to change and drive value for our customers through the design and support of infrastructure solutions within our Cloud Engineering function You will get the chance to focus on the delivery of work within the sprint, while architecting and designing network infrastructure to support business goals. Continuous Learning is a huge focus within this team, and you will be a part of driving that culture to develop new skills with a real focus on automation and reliability engineering.

This role is not only seen as vital to the bank but also very much needed across all our engineering teams to ensure standards and best practices are a common theme throughout.

In your day to day role you will:

* Focus on delivery of work items in sprint for the team, working autonomously to engage key stakeholders, ensuring all decisions satisfy risk appetite and managing controlled delivery.

* Automate and Design infrastructure to support the Business goals and objectives while adhering to both architecture and information security principles.

* Develop and Design infrastructure automation including CI/CD pipelines using Azure Cloud, Azure DevOps, IAAS (terraform), Azure pipelines and PowerShell

* Embrace and drive a continuous learning culture where the development of new skills and knowledge is paramount to the success especially a focus on automation and reliability engineering.

* Ensure clear documentation and commented code is in place for all tools/processes

What you’ll bring to the team

As a Principal Cloud Engineer you will utilise the software delivery principles and best practice to create reusable modules for infrastructure as code such as ARM templates and terraform modules. You will be responsible for providing high level of technical expertise for Microsoft Azure work streams brining both proven experience and best practice to drive innovation to benefit our customer.

* Experience of designing infrastructure solutions utilising Cloud services (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).

* Demonstrable experience of Cloud experience (ideally Azure cloud, Containers, AKS, Serverless).

* Infrastructure Automation and configuration management.

* Scripting experience across (JSON, PowerShell, Bash, YAML).

* Experience of people management, mentoring and coaching Cloud Engineers.
