Payroll Assistant

£24,000 – £25,000
Our highly successful client is looking for an experienced payroll professional. They are looking for the following:
Requirements – qualities, knowledge, skills, and abilities:
At least three years of functional experience in Payroll, operating within multiple areas.
Excellent ability to understand and read short correspondence, memos, and instructions.
Ability to effectively forward information to 3rd party providers, a small group or on an individual basis, as well as to other members of staff of the company.
The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines to achieve objectives.
Need to be self-motivated, conscientious, and accurate in your approach to payroll.
Knowledge of Sage payroll would be advantageous.
Ideally you will be experienced in the Microsoft 365 suite particularly with the use of Word / Excel / PowerPoint.
Desired knowledge of Adobe would be beneficial.
The Role:
* Be the first point of contact relating to any payroll queries or concerns
* Process payroll data monthly in line with statutory and company requirements including attachments of earnings.
* Calculate payments for colleagues across different sectors, and understanding term time calculations
* Administer the Statutory Sick Pay, Statutory Maternity Pay and Statutory Paternity Pay schemes.
* Maintain all colleague files and manage any changes to bank, address or personal data.
* Complete and manage the onboarding process of all new colleagues, including right to work checks, DBS checks, offer letters, reference requests and Contracts of Employment.
* Manage the Leavers process in line with the Company’s policy.
* Ensure the Company always meet their safeguarding responsibilities.
* Assist with the monthly payroll submission and ensure all monthly journals are posted by the account’s deadline.
* Support in all pay related calculations.
* Provide advice to colleagues and the management team in relation to pay, taxation and NI.
* Provide accurate payroll reports monthly to the Operations Team.
* Always be looking to improve the efficiencies of payroll operations and work processes.
* Assist with the completion of request forms from HMRC/DWPS/Job Centre plus etc.
* Monthly reporting of the Company Auto-enrolment pension scheme.
* Support the Operations Team in dealing with employee relations issues and improvement of the tracking systems and creating monthly reports.
* Adhere to Audit and Best Practice guidelines and ensure the relevant processes are followed and reviewed regularly.
* To assist with processing all PAYE forms within the required timescales such as P11D, P60, P45, and P46 and raise payment requests where necessary.
* To assist with submitting all RTI data online within timescales provided by HMRC.
* To identify and report any unusual activity with changes of payroll data including tax code changes which could affect the employees' financial circumstance.
* To ensure that your working area is maintained in a safe and organised manner, paying particular attention to confidentiality of client and colleague records. (GDPR).
