Job Description
Payroll Assistant

Basic salary £22,500 / Monday – Friday 9:00-17:30 / 20 Days Holiday + 8 Bank Holidays

Here is a great opportunity to join our dedicated and established payroll team within our Accountancy Practice working with a range of clients.

An exciting new position where you will join our growing firm of Chartered Accountants working closely with small to medium sized, owner managed businesses. We deliver a professional, dynamic service therefore we are looking for an ambitious individual with a great work ethic.

The successful candidate will be part of a team of 4 Payroll Specialists providing a payroll service to external clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Completion of monthly and weekly payrolls
Completion of annual P11Ds
Good understanding of auto enrolment and pension schemes
Checking holiday, sick pay, maternity pay and other ongoing calculations
Ensure compliance with minimum wage and holiday regulations
Balancing the GL (General ledger) and other associated activities with Finance team
End of year submissions
Supporting all internal and external audits relating to payroll.
Working within the agreed payroll timescales and achieving deadlines
Administration and audit compliance of Payrolls from start to finish
To conduct Pre-Employment Verification Checks
Deal with queries professionally and efficiently.
To maintain accurate records.
Uphold excellent customer service through telephone, email, and face-to-face communication.
General admin within payroll team – scanning, billing etcEssential Qualifications / Experience:

Strong administration skills, ideally with recruitment experience
Highly organised, with diary/inbox management experience
Excellent IT skills
Able to work independently with a high level of discretion and confidentiality
Experience usingIris or similar financial software would be advantageous
Able to effectively manage workload
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
A team player able to work on own initiative but comfortable to escalate and ask for direction when required.
Confident, bubbly, hardworking and willing to learn
