Job Description
Independent accountancy practice in Braintree looking for a proactive team-player to join our small but growing band of accountants – school or part time hours are available with flexible working an option.
The role will involve:
· Preparing statutory accounts
· Preparing bank analyses and other balance sheet reconciliations
· Preparation of management accounts
· Ability to prepare VAT returns and give guidance on VAT chargeable and reclaimable.
· An understanding and running of payroll and CIS
· Preparation of corporation tax returns and associated schedules.
· Understanding add backs and principles of disallowed expenditure.
· Awareness of capital allowances in key areas and different rates.
· Preparation of personal and partnership tax returns.
· Able to identify obvious omissions of information from clients.
· Xero accounting systems will be used –previous experience in this would be an advantage
· Team participation and communication
External
· Competently dealing with HMRC, Companies House and other bodies over the phone on behalf of clients.
· Assisting clients in the absence of a manager/supervisor and where possible, answering or relaying appropriate queries.
· Drafting of correspondence ready to be sent out to clients.
· Dealing with clients on the phone answering questions.
General Requirements of the role
· A minimum of 5 years’ practice experience essential.
· Displaying energy and enthusiasm for all aspects of the role, a willingness to assist others in any way possible and to take on new challenges.
· Demonstrating commercial awareness and business acumen.
· Strong Excel (advanced) and analytical skills would be an advantage
· Strong time management and ability to multi-task is essential
Qualifications
· Candidate should be ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience with demonstrable skills in accounting & finance.
Hours of work and remuneration
· The working hours are flexible with the ability to work from home if this works for the business, initially based on a 25 hour working week
· Usual place of work will be Braintree, Essex with flexible working an option
· Full time equivalent salary will be circa £28,000 per year
· A 6 month probationary period is in operation
