Job Description
The Management Accountant is a key financial and commercial role within a large manufacturing company based in Plymouth, providing financial support across the business, as well as within the finance team. The role would suit an experienced accountant (preferably AAT qualified), with strong analytical skills who is keen to build relationships across the business. Key Responsibilities:
* Responsible for maintaining management information:
* Producing daily and monthly financial and non-financial reports.
* Analysis of financial information & KPI’s; validating data and investigating anomalies.
* Involved in costing procedures:
* Standard costing of new & existing parts.
* Analysis and review of estimated costs.
* Calculation of labour and overhead rates.
* Effect of exchange rate variances.
* Management of fixed asset register.
* VAT management:
* Producing and submitting monthly VAT returns.
* Assisting with compliance with VAT obligations.
* Involvement in budgeting/forecasting; financial modelling; and other ad hoc projects across the business.
* Being the finance lead on payroll matters:
* Monthly payroll processing.
* Liaising with the external payroll and pension providers.
* Assisting with payroll queries.
* Credit control responsibilities:
* Maintaining customer credit limits & aligning with credit insurance policies.
* Posting customer receipts into SAP and reconciling customer accounts.
* Processing credit notes and miscellaneous invoicing, ensuring adherence with company policies.
* Analysis of sales ledger KPI’s i.e. debtor days, overdue accounts, one-time receipt rate.
* Refinement and implementation of credit control strategy.
Essential Experience / Qualifications and Attributes Required:
* AAT Qualified / Level 4/5 educational qualifications.
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounting.
* Microsoft Excel – intermediate/advanced proficiency.
* Proactive, self-driven and good Team Player.
* Good communication skills and work to set deadlines.
* Accuracy/attention to detail.
* SAP experience would be advantageous.
