Walters People: Head of Tax – Public Sector – Up to £80,000 per annum – Full Time – Hybrid working – Worcester
Walters People are partnered with a leading business to recruit a Head of Tax. This is an exciting opportunity within their Finance team based in Worcestershire. Candidates experienced in Tax should apply with their CV.
Main responsibilities of Head of Tax will include:
Ensuring maximum benefits of strategic tax planning across all business operations and all applicable taxes to minimise exposure to tax liabilities
Identifying opportunities and driving initiatives to support business operations across direct and indirect taxes where relevant
Contribute to changes in the internal corporate structure, transaction structure or contractual positions to ensure a tax efficiencies are achieved and maintained
Preparation and implementation of appropriate tax policies and procedures to ensure continued compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements
Report and present financial information and project updates to the Executive Committee, directors, and other key stakeholders to support strategic decision making, tax strategy, business planning and compliance with financial regulations
Ensuring that accurate records and data are maintained and managed within regulatory and statutory requirements. This will aid in the preparation of clear reports as needed to support decision making
Driving relationships, discussions, and opportunities with key stakeholders (both internal and external) to identify business improvements that meet the current and future needs
Skills and experiences:
Professional qualification (Degree, management qualification or relevant professional qualification)
Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) professional qualification or equivalent
Proven experience of managing a financial services function in a large, complex organisation
Substantial experience of undertaking statutory and management accounting
Proven ability of working to deadlines and prioritising work loads
Robust experience of analysing and diagnosing problems and implementing effective solutions
Robust knowledge of accounting regulations, legislation and current practice, particularly tax legislation
Proven experience of working with Board/Committee members, senior managers and Directors
Excellent interpersonal and customer care skills
Intermediate knowledge of financial systems e.g. SAP
