Head of Payroll for Europe
Location – Northampton – Hybrid working
Hours – 40 Monday – Friday
Salary – £77,000 – £90,000
We are delighted to be working with a Global business within one of their local sites in Northampton, our client is seeking a Head of Payroll to oversee their European division. The selected candidate will be required to inspire and lead their professional European and Middle East Payroll team. Ensuring that the team delivers best in class payroll services and meets the needs of their colleagues.
Duties
Leading a team of ten EME payroll professionals, supporting their career development and well-being, and ensuring robust succession plans are in place for all roles (including your own).
Delivering the monthly EME Payroll on-time, accurately and in compliance with all relevant requirements, including controls, policies, SLAs, regulations, and legislation.
Ensuring timely resolution of escalated and/or complex issues, requests for exceptions to standard processes and service delivery issues, and that any Risk Events or Issues are promptly reported.
Owning and driving implementation of projects and change affecting the EME Payroll team, processes, and systems, ensuring no/ minimal disruption to service.
Supporting achievement of the Global Payroll strategy, by partnering with the Service Strategy and Transformation Team to ensure any changes to processes and systems are managed appropriately.
Acting as the senior engagement point from EME Payroll into the Reward and Compensation team, Finance, Group Tax, Chief Controls Office, and Audit.
Fostering a culture of continuous improvement in service delivery, efficiencies, and colleague experience, through new systems and processes, and the use of insights from workforce and case management tools.
The Candidate
Strong communicator with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to quickly establish confidence and be seen as the subject matter expert on EME Payroll
Proven track record of successfully leading and developing teams.
Ability to follow a logical decision-making process, through gathering relevant information identifying and evaluating options, considering risks, and making a recommendation based on a sound rationale
Ability to analyse complex problems and issues, identify the root cause, evaluate the correct solution and/or any remediation required and then define and implement a clear action plan to address the root cause
Experience using data to reach decisions, including how to focus on the material aspects of analysis
Experience of leading EME Payroll teams in large and complex organisations, preferably within a financial services organisation, including the provision of end-to end services via Payroll suppliers and managing SLAs.
Strong, demonstrable knowledge of more complex payrolls such as France, Italy and Spain, including deferred compensation approaches, country-to-country movers, and business travel-related taxation.
Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, financial and regulatory controls, governance, risk management, HR policy and internal audit requirements, to include local tax authority requirements for filing returns.
Proven experience of leading, implementing and driving continuous improvements, including working with Payroll suppliers
