The Company
D9 Fibre is a new and exciting disruptive fibre broadband provider backed by Triple Point Investment Management through its Digital 9 Infrastructure fund. The focus will be to bridge the digital infrastructure divide within social housing, creating greener and more sustainable connectivity. Glasgow has been selected as the first city to benefit from affordable broadband, with further roll outs planned across UK cities with similar demographics and governance structures as part of D9 Fibre’s future growth strategy.
This is a high-profile start-up with estimated build costs for the Glasgow project being estimated as c£100m. D9 Fibre anticipates initial growth of 250,000 homes being capable of connection within the first two and a half years of operation.
As part of this exciting phase of growth, the role of Head of Finance has been identified which will be pivotal in the support of the initial setup of finance team in Glasgow, whilst also acting as a key support to the leadership team for the future growth of the business.
The Opportunity
With a direct reporting line to the CFO, the Head of Finance role will primarily support the rapid growth of the company, implementing finance systems, robust controls & procedures and be responsible for the delivery of accurate month end, quarter end and year end reporting. The successful candidate will be required to work closely with key stakeholders and departmental heads throughout the business. A key focus will be on providing the management team with detailed commentary to support decision making across the business whilst also working closely with the Head of FP&A on additional projects.
This is a highly visible role within the business and will require a clear communicator who has strong influencing abilities across a range of level and teams. Key to this will be someone with a detail-oriented mindset and a passion for accuracy who can spot areas of opportunity to drive performance and profitability whilst mitigating financial risks to the business.
Additionally, the Head of Finance will oversee the work of the finance team in Glasgow (team of 4) and will be responsible for the development and growth of the team as the business grows. The Head of Finance will also work in conjunction with the CFO on a wide range of business-related initiatives along with being responsible for the year end audit process.

Job Description
The Head of Finance will head up the core accounting function and will be responsible for the delivery of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting for the business, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures and be a direct support to the CFO.
Key responsibilities:
* Responsibility for the Finance function of the business. This includes accurate financial reporting, financial control, including cost control, ledgers integrity, balance sheet control and cash control.
* Ensuring profitability, liquidity and financial control of the Glasgow Hub through appropriate support, challenge and provision of information to colleagues.
* You will lead, manage and develop a team of people responsible for the financial operations, this includes payroll, credit control and AP/AR activities. • The role is a very hands-on and operationally focused post. It is expected that once the Head of Finance is fully bedded-in, there will be an emphasis on developing the Finance function including finance systems.
* External reporting including Taxation, VAT and HMRC reporting and leading the annual statutory accounting process.
* Processes & control – Prepare and maintain key process documentation for reporting processes and ensure robust controls are in place to support key reporting outcomes. This includes reporting reconciliations and ensuring processes are continuously challenged to deliver efficiencies and value add across the finance function.
* Stakeholder engagement – Working collaboratively with peers across the finance function and wider business units to deliver business insight and contribute to a best in class finance function.
Candidate requirements
* Qualified Accountant (7-8 years post qualification minimum) (CA/ACCA/CIMA)
* Advanced Excel skills
* Excellent communication skills at all levels of a business
* Self motivated to deliver under pressure and to specific deadlines in a fast-paced environment
* Proactive approach to business partnering
* High levels of integrity and resilience
* Excellent presentation and reporting skills, able to deliver relevant reports and analysis succinctly and clearly
