Job Description
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Senior Purchasing Analyst for an initial 6 month contract with option to extend on a rate of £250-£300/day (inside of IR35). Due to the current circumstances this role will be a hybrid of working at home and the office.

Responsibilities:

-Responsible for managing and monitoring the Capital and Revenue budget for the Change and Digital Innovation (CDi) department within the organisation.

-Responsible for producing timely and accurate information for the weekly Finance Update to the CDi Executive Director & Senior Leadership team

-Managing, building and improving performance reporting to help the business understand performance, risks and opportunities

-Assisting the CDi Executive Director with the provision of reliable and robust ad-hoc data

-Responsible for the consolidation and preparation of forecasting and budget exercises

-Responsible for reconciliation, review and variance analysis with relevant areas of the business

-Review and enhance departmental budgeting controls and spend profiles to ensure a more efficient and effective use of approved financial spend by CDi and within agreed budget forecasts.

-Responsible for creating unique subcodes for CDi

-Production of monthly reporting packages

-Ensure internal deadlines are met and that work is managed to a satisfactory level.

-Maintain timely and appropriate communication with all relevant stakeholders.

-Build strong working relationships with the wider Change and Operational teams and drive best practice performance, and to liaise closely with the organisation’s Finance and Procurement functions.

Essential Skills:

-Highly self-motivated, independent and proactive approach

-Excellent numerical and analytical skills

-Prior experience working within a Finance Analyst role or similar

-Ability to assimilate large amounts of complex, ambiguous and sometimes conflicting information in order to draw meaningful conclusions and recommendations

-Ability to operate in a fast-paced and changing environment, able to prioritise workload and manage expectations of the stakeholders

-Deadline-orientated and execution focused

-Ability to achieve objectives in the face of resistance and ambiguity, whilst maintaining strong relationships

-Highly effective communication skills & ability to tailor communication to audience, opportunity & circumstances

-Attention to detail, accuracy and presentation

-Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to build complex models, using VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, INDEX, MATCH, SUBSTITUTE, TRANSPOSE, IFERROR and pivot tables
