Job Description
Full Time 37 hours per week
Due to the promotion of the previous post holder, we have an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified finance professional to join our high performing Senior Leadership Team. The successful candidate will be highly numerate and have a passion for ensuring that finances enable the college to deliver its strategic objectives. At Exeter College the objectives of our budget each year is to realise the vision set by our Governors to become an exceptional college. This post is part of the Senior Leadership Team of the College. The post also works closely with the wider College Leadership Team and the Board of Governors, to ensure that risk and finances are well managed, to meet our statutory duties. We are looking for an individual, who wants to be part of a team that enables our College to realise our vision.
Exeter College is £53m turnover tertiary college, that educates around 11,000 students and employs around 1200 individuals. Exeter College is an Ofsted Outstanding College and viewed as one of the top performing colleges in the United Kingdom. Many of the College’s sites, sit at the Heart of the Historic City of Exeter. The College has ambitious plans to transform its estate, while continuing to invest in teaching, learning and the student experience. The College is a key player within the City of Exeter and works closely with Civic, Education, Employer and Sporting partners to support the ambition of the City, its community and its stakeholders.
Reporting directly to the Principal & CEO who is the accountable officer, the postholder will ensure both the strategic and operational levels of the College are financially sound and stable, providing reassurance and advice to the Board on all financial matters. Experience in all aspects of financial management, control and assurance, reserves management and investment, capital expenditure and procurement. You will have a broad commercial awareness and be comfortable overseeing contract negotiations and renewals. Managing the College’s risk management strategy is also a key part of the role.

The College has a highly experienced team that enables the College to achieve clean audit outcomes, while ensuring that students at the college continue to achieve outstanding results and win various National prizes.
