Job Description
Commercial Accountant

Our client is a major international property and construction consultancy business, embarking on an exciting expansion journey with challenging growth plans to meet its 2030 strategy.

The firm is currently looking for a Commercial Accountant to help build and improve for the future as they continue to grow.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, this role will work in close collaboration with the Operational Partners and the Finance team.

Department Overview:

A business support service with a vision to provide exceptional financial and commercial leadership to enable the success of the strategic plan.

Promote strong governance and control to enable the firm to meet regulatory requirements and the management of financial risk.

A diverse finance team that operates on digital platforms to challenge, direct, and support the operations of the firm.

Overview of Role:

This is a commercial accountant role for the UK and will be based in Sheffield or Leeds. The purpose of the role is to provide timely and accurate commercial support to the business units for which the individual will be responsible.

Key responsibilities:

* To provide draft management accounts in readiness for discussion with business unit leads

* To provide month end and year end journals

* To provide draft budgets / QFs in readiness for discussion with business unit leads

* To interpret data and communicate suitable and concise variance analysis

* To provide support with cash collection, liaise with credit control and the operations

* To provide support with any supporting documentation as part of the month end processes

* To work closely where appropriate with the central finance team

* To provide support to the operations with bids / opportunities

* To provide cover to other business units during holiday periods where appropriate

* To provide any ad hoc duties

Candidate Specification:

* A qualified accountant with at least 2 years PQE from within a National or leading independent Firm of accountants

* Strong commercial acumen

* Commercial and business analysis skills

* Ability to work to a timetable

* A great communicator

* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel

* Experience and knowledge with all other Microsoft 365 applications

Remuneration

* Circa £50,000

* Car Allowance

* Bonus

* Hybrid Working

* Holidays 25+bank+3 additional days at Christmas

* 5% pension
