Job Description
Our local authority client has a 3-month contract vacancy (with the possibility of extension) for the role of a CLIENT FINANCIAL AFFAIRS OFFICER, details as follows

Job Purpose

To provide administrative and financial support to the Client Financial Affairs Team in the provision of a comprehensive appointee ship and deputyship service.

Responsibilities

To assist with the varied enquiries received by the section from staff, service users and their representatives or carers and external contacts. To deal with these, courteously and efficiently, acting on own initiative where possible in order to maintain co-ordination of the work processes of the section.
To assist with, and to help ensure that a comprehensive Client Financial Affairs service is provided for Social Service clients. Within this is a duty to protect the interests of the clients and to maximise income to the Authority.
To provide an Appointee service where appropriate, and to deal with all matters relating to appointee ships. Particularly involving those clients living in the community. To maintain Appointee Accounts and control the associated bank accounts. Ensuring that accurate balances are kept and monthly reconciliations are carried out, to meet the internal departmental and Audit standards.
To conduct Receivership duties as required under the direction of the Court of Protection. Maintaining Receivership accounts and associated bank accounts. Ensuring that accurate balances are kept, with reconciliations conducted on a monthly and annual basis. Standards to conform to the Public Guardianship Office, internal departmental procedures and Audit requirements.
Work closely with the Welfare Benefit Agency to ensure that the Appointee application forms are completed properly, and all appropriate Income Support and Welfare Benefit forms are correctly submitted on behalf of both Appointee and Receivership clients.
Ensure that all pension and benefit entitlement due to Appointee and Receivership clients is received and paid directly into the client bank accounts. Make regular four weekly payments of maintenance charges due to Merton, and personal allowances due to the homes for these clients on a regular basis.
Visit Appointee/Receivership clients in their own homes, Residential/Nursing Care Homes or Hospitals as necessary, to discuss future and ongoing arrangements or to serve legal documents on behalf of the Court of Protection.Essential Requirements

S01 – Qualified to 'GCSE' level standard or equivalent.
S02 – Qualified to AS level standard or equivalent.
To have a sound understanding of Appointeeship, and Receivership Duties under the Court of Protection.
To be able to demonstrate a good financial and administrative working background.
Experience in the use of personal computers and relevant software, such as Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, Access and Outlook Express.If you have the necessary experience and qualifications to fulfill this role, please submit your CV ASAP
