Glasgow based (Hybrid working)

Tate Recruitment are working with a long-standing, well-established, award-winning Energy provider to recruit for the positions of Financial Control Accountant and an Accounts Payable Operations Manager.

FINANCIAL CONTROLS ACCOUNTANT – Reporting to the Group Accounts Payable Manager, the Reconciliations Accountant will be responsible for ensuring that all AP period closing activities are executed timely and accurately, through formal review verifying the integrity and accuracy of the data.

The Role
Key Accountabilities:
· Accountable for the day-to-day performance of the department
· Review and recommend changes to existing policies and procedures, embedding best practise
· In collaboration with Treasury, Procurement and Finance Transformation gain Group and department efficiencies.
· If required, be prepared to deputise for the Head of Accounts Payable
· Lead, motivate and develop the team of circa 28 FTE
· Set objectives and agree plans for their technical, soft skills and personal development, within the personal development framework.
· The Reconciliations Accountant will drive improvements in the period end closing activities and reconciliation processes within AP, in partnership with Group and Business Unit Finance teams.
· The Reconciliations Accountant, in collaboration with AP Management, will also be responsible for ensuring control and governance through: (i) documented procedures and processes; (ii) segregation of duties; (iii) identification and management of risk (iv) compliance with our internal control framework

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE OPERATIONS MANAGER – The Accounts Payable Operations Manager will be responsible for leading the operation to ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments for SSE Group.

The Role
Key Accountabilities:
· Accountable for the day-to-day performance of the department

· In collaboration with Treasury, Procurement and Finance Transformation gain Group and department efficiencies.
· If required, be prepared to deputise for the Head of Accounts Payable
· Lead, motivate and develop the team of circa 28 FTE
· Set objectives and agree plans for their technical, soft skills and personal development, within the personal development framework.
· They will provide support to finance and business functions with a key focus on improvements to payment performance.

· They will be a key stakeholder to the Finance Transformation Programme to ensure all change within the AP Function is embedded, embraced, and sustained.
· They will be responsible for minimising financial risk by maintaining and enforcing policies, procedures, and internal controls.
· They will assist with month-end closing tasks, ensuring reconciliations are accurate and complete and compliant with Group Policy.

Person Specification:
Finance Controls Accountant
· Hold a recognised professional accountancy qualification (full CIMA / ACCA / CA) with at least 2 years post qualification experience
· Excellent numerical and data analytical skills
· Possess excellent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Finance ERPs (Oracle P2P)
· Risk awareness and ability to manage and mitigate risk
· Experience of working in a large organisation's finance / accounts payable function
· Knowledge and experience of Accounts Payable best practice and procedures
· Good knowledge of core financial systems and general accounting procedures
· Experience of working with multiple currencies
· Awareness of current regulations including IFRS / New UK GAAP and Companies Acts an advantage

Accounts Payable Operations Manager
· 5 years management experience of leading a high performing accounts payable function in a large organisation
· Someone who has experience of working within a challenging, dynamic environment
· Sound knowledge of the control environment required in the Accounts Payable function
· Proven ability to successfully lead change within a large organisation
· Demonstrable experience in managing customers effectively, including range of stakeholders.
· Able to contribute positively to the overall direction of the Accounts Payable function.
· Relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance or Management or related field.
· Extensive knowledge of Accounts Payable procedures
