Job Description
Accounts Assistant
Salary – £25,000 per annum
Based – Uxbridge, Middx, UB11
Mon – Fri 9am – 5.30pm
Immediate start
Hybrid office / work from home after training completion
Experience using Sage 50 & Excel essential
Role:
To perform routine accounting work in the accounts assistant function. Maintain daily accounting records with accuracy and transparency.
Duties:
Update SAGE accounting system.
Sales Ledger – ensure invoices are raised / posted accurately and in a timely manner. Perform transaction processing related to accounts receivable payments, revenue collection and bank deposits.
Purchase Ledger – obtain authorisation from appropriate person for all purchase invoices and ensure accounts payables invoices are accurate, properly coded, posted and processed for payment accurately.
Ensures completeness and accuracy of all accounts receivable and accounts payable database and files, including periodic and annual reconciliation of control and nominal accounts.
Where any discrepancies or issues arise with sales or purchase invoices, raise this with the Finance supervisor in order that a timely resolution can be identified.
Nominal Ledger – process payment runs to suppliers based on invoices approved for payment by the Finance supervisor.
Carry out reconciliations of customer and supplier accounts on a periodic basis.
Credit Control – ensure customers pay within their agreed payment terms, resolve any customer issues or queries and chasing payment if necessary, as per the company's debt collection procedure.
Make recommendations for continual process improvements and ensure that procedures are documented.
Ensure accurate processing to accounts in compliance with appropriate policies and procedures.
Carry out month-end and year-end tasks assigned on a timely manner.
Carry out projects and tasks assigned on a timely manner.
Qualifications:
Education: A Level or Equivalent
Experience: Busy office environment with proven track record of attention to detail and meeting tight deadlines
Skills: Team player, excellent communicator, methodical and diligent
Must be able to use Excel.
Highly motivated and organized worker
Excellent communicator, prompt and courteous telephone manner
The ability to work calmly under pressure
