Job Description
Accounts Assistant
We are looking to recruit for an Accounts Assistant to work in a fast-paced and rewarding environment within the Hemel Hempstead area. You will be working on a variety of tasks and must be able to multitask while maintaining precise attention to detail.
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:30pm (finish at 4:30pm on Fridays)
Basic Salary: Up to £26,000 dependent on experience
Key Responsibilities
* Accounting, Tax and Administrative Support to Clients
* On boarding clients
* Incorporating companies
* Registering companies for VAT and PAYE and Corporation Tax
* Liaising with clients via telephone, e-mail and post
* Processing PAYE and VAT returns
* Processing of client payroll
* Pensions processing and reconciliation
* Bank and Balance Sheet reconciliations
* Enacting Credit control for clients
* Adhering to all filing deadlines
* Meeting deadlines, such as the clearing of e-mails and post daily
* Communicating with HMRC on behalf of the client
* Assisting with IR35 compliance (tax legislation)
Skills and experience
* Excellent attention to detail
* Excellent telephone manner – this is essential
* Excellent level of literacy, written communication and analytical skills
* Excellent level of numeracy & commercial judgement
* Advanced Excel knowledge
* Accountancy or tax experience from accounting practice is highly preferable
* Experience utilising Sage 50 Accounts/Sage 50 Payroll
Desired Qualifications
* Good academic record
* Accounting or tax qualifications preferable (can be working towards one)
* General computer knowledge and good use of Microsoft packages (in particular Excel) is highly desirable
