Accounting Team Leader
Full time permanent role
Mon-Fri (Apply online only) – fully office based for first six months and then opportunities to work from home maybe two days per week
Burgess Hill area – due to workplace location it is essential to drive and have your own transport – plenty of free parking on-site

The role / objective:
To oversee and manage the Financial Accounting Team. To supervise and lead the team in meeting company and statutory filing requirements, production of quarterly financial accounts, and reconciliation of financial information. To promote learning and development within the team. To ensure all data is recorded accurately and efficiently across all company groups and all monthly reporting requirements are met within deadlines.
Responsibilities and duties include:
Work with members of the Finance Team to drive the production of quarterly and year-end accounts and statutory returns, across a range of the group companies
Oversee (and be point of escalation for) all duties of the Financial Accounting team –
including:
Making ad-hoc payments, raising ad-hoc invoices
Bank reconciliation, Sales invoice reconciliation
Process credit card expenses, staff expense claims
Monthly production of Finance Department KPI’s
Conduct quarterly performance reviews, monitor and encourage staff training
Submitting VAT returns and overseas financial returns (in absence of Financial Accountant)
Ensure required payments are made within deadlines (PAYE, tax, etc.)
Dealing with finance queries that arise during the normal course of business
Financial reporting to internal/external stakeholders as required in the course of business
Actively work with all departments of the business for finance compliance (UK and Overseas)
Correspond with Company Auditors (UK and Overseas)
Control and reconcile assigned Balance Sheet accounts
Ensure targets and objectives are achieved in accordance with staff appraisals
Experience, skills and competencies required:
Previous experience managing or supervising staff in a Finance team
Accountancy qualifications or suitably Qualified by Experience
Ability to work on own initiative and as an effective team member essential
Analytical thinking with reporting skills and problem-solving ability
Ability to prioritise and manage workloads
Strong organisation and administration skills with good attention to detail
Excellent communication skills at all levels both written and verbal
Good computer literacy, with good working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook
