Bioinformatic Engineers are software engineers with experience in bioinformatics. You will have experience within data engineering, using Java coupled with strong foundations in software engineering and computer science. Bioinformatics Engineers are responsible for developing and operating digital products aiming at solving a wide variety of bioinformatic needs and they solve these needs in genomic medicine by crafting production quality code.

As a Bioinformatics Engineer at Genomics England you will be involved in producing high quality code and nurturing agile practices. The focus of this post will be on core knowledge management systems in the cloud to manage clinical, genomics and bio-medical data. These Big Data, High Performance systems provide critical information for the analysis of Next Generation Sequencing data generated by the NHS Genomic Medicine Service. The successful candidate will ensure achievement of optimum performance, scalability, durability and minimal manual maintenance.

In addition, you will be supporting the continuous improvement of our practices, collaborating and adhering to engineering standards
