The Company

An award winning communications business that enable their clients to transform the way they connect with their customers via latest innovations in technology and smart data. They have 22 sites in the UK with circa 4,000 fulltime and temporary staff providing both digital and print services to their clients. They primarily operate in the UK but have operations in Dublin, Luxembourg, Bulgaria, US and Hong Kong. The business continues to grow, both organically and through acquisition.

The Role

The Indirect Taxes Manager is a new role managing multiple European VAT registrations, advising the business operations on supply chain compliance with UK and EU VAT and Customs regulations, and supporting the development of internal systems to facilitate the procurement and billing processes used in International trade across the Group.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Indirect Taxes Manager – Finance will include:

• Supervision of the preparation of UK and EU VAT returns and related filings such as Intrastat and EC Sales returns

• Assist in the development of internal systems used in international trade including devising appropriate billing mechanisms for international work

• Support Client Services teams with VAT & Customs related issues

• Attend Client meetings in support of Client Services

• Support and liaise with vendors of the business in the supply chain to facilitate the correct application of UK and EU/non-EU Customs and VAT compliance

• Liaise with external advisers on Indirect Tax matters

• Identify and manage new advisers in particular for Customs processes in the EU

• Manage enquiries and liaising with HMRC and EU/International tax authorities as necessary

• Provide internal training to staff

• Identifying initiatives and policies that may improve financial controls and systems around Indirect Taxes

Technical Qualities

• Demonstrable experience working within an international business, ideally 2-3 years within a multi-site business.

• A highly motivated and organised team player

• Confident communicator

• A good knowledge of the MS Office suite and other analytical tools

• Confident user of IT systems
