Job Description
Our client, a market-leading insurance company based in the West Midlands is looking for a VAT specialist to join the business as a Group Indirect Tax Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out the reporting on all aspects of VAT, IPT and employment taxes, whilst driving improvements in tax governance, compliance and forecasting.
Key Responsibilities of the Group Indirect Tax Manager
Review and sign off all UK and Irish indirect tax filings and support and coach junior team members
Seek to enhance existing financial controls and current reporting processes including through automation
Provide VAT and IPT input to budgets and forecasts as required by the central finance team
Proactively engage with and answer to requests for indirect tax specialist assistance from legal, divisional finance, IT project and operational teams
Plan and carry out work required to respond to all HMRC indirect tax enquiries and audit visits
Undertake IR35 assessments, oversee the preparation of and review the PSA, and in conjunction with external advisors provide ad hoc employment tax support to HR
Manage SAO process including management and oversight of the tax risk register, preparation of file for SAO sign-off and identification and resolution of control weaknesses in conjunction with operational teams across the business
Deputise for and support the Head of Tax & Treasury as required on other tax-related projects
Stay up to date on relevant legislative and case law developments
Key essentials of the Group Indirect Tax Manager
A Qualified Financial professional (ACA, CTA or equivalent) plus a minimum of 5 years PQE
VAT experience at Tax Manager level either in practice or in-house
Knowledge tax and application to a business environment
Strong technical accounting skills with the ability to adapt and learn in new environments
