Job Description
Role: Financial Controller
Location: Watford
Salary: £50-60k

Due to a very exciting stage of growth and development, our client are recruiting for a qualified Financial Controller. As Financial Controller, you will support the senior finance leadership team in all areas of financial management. You'll play a key part in the day-to-day function of the finance team.

The role of Financial Controller;
* Ensure timely and accurate preparation of the management accounts, including board pack with analysis of variances.
* Manage and oversee the work produced by the accounts payable and receivable team.
* Manage and oversee the work produced by the payroll team.
* Identifying and driving areas of continuous improvement and efficiency with a focus on the optimum use of systems and technology.
* Submit quarterly VAT returns and provide guidance on VAT matters across the organisation.
* Review of weekly payment runs and monthly accruals and prepayments.
* Preparation of information to complete annual compliance, i.e., statutory accounts, tax computations.
* Working with finance business partners in preparation of budgets and quarterly forecasts, and cash flows.
* Managing all the debt facilities, including the weekly uploads, drawdowns, retentions, reconciliations etc.
* Leading the preparation of the year end audit and liaising with the company auditors.
* Ownership of the finance system.
* Managing and mentoring 3 direct reports (Management accountant, transactional manager (AP&AR), payroll administrator).
* Preparation of margin analysis and evaluation.
* Development of standard costs and pricing analysis, leading to improved operational performance and increased profitability.
* Support stock control as well as stock management policies and procedures and physical stock checks.

The ideal candidate;
* Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA).
* Ease in operating Sage 200+.
* Advanced Excel experience.
* Broad all-round experience, including transactional finance, team management, VAT, systems.
* Strong commercial acumen, desire to truly understand the numbers and excellent attention to details and ability to work in a very hands-on capacity.
