Job Description
Financial Controller

Salary: £90,000

Benefits: Car/Car allowance, private health, pension, 27 days holiday + stats

Location: Sheffield

Our client operates in the manufacturing sector and have operations in the UK and overseas. This role represents a rare and perhaps once in a lifetime opportunity to build and manage a new finance team as an independent business area. Reporting to the CFO you will lead the financial control of the business including statutory reporting to group. You will undertake the treasury & statutory compliance activities and will act as Company Secretary for the UK

THE ROLE:
Reporting and financial management
Preparation of monthly accounts
Advising units on IFRS matters and practical guidance on new standards to the sites
Involvement in project & capital expenditure appraisals
Management of Company insurance policies, renewals, claims & liaison with insurance brokers
Continuous review of procedures and implementation of improvements

Treasury
Supervising the exit from group functions and developing a treasury function
Controlling and developing the liquidity planning for the business and monitor/improve performance
Monitoring and control of derivative management (FX & metal exposure) in line with company policies
Management of cash pooling
Involvement in banking relationships with all banks & provision of information as required
Executing as required financing arrangements such as factoring and supplier financing

Systems
Involvement in the operation of accounting systems to identify opportunities for improvement particularly consolidation tools and feeder systems
Review and update of existing systems and documentation
Develop and monitor control systems to ensure compliance with legislation and company policies

General
Continuous review to identify and implement improvements in the Finance function
To carry out any other tasks requested by the CFO or group finance
To provide support to the finance department
Be a lead to audit of the business area and contact point for local authorities

THE CANDIDATE:
Qualified Accountant with at least 10 years PQE
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Procedures and systems are fully understood, adhered to and questioned to ensure processes remain continuously as efficient and effective as possible
Adhere at all times to the expected professional standards of competence
Systems and records are up to date and accurate
Deadlines and targets are always achieved
To take full responsibility of individual and team workload and be able to prioritise tasks; prioritisation clarification sought from management when conflicts arise
Be honest when struggling and demonstrate resilience
Flexibility and willingness to work on a variety of work assigned
No inappropriate use of company systems and facilities
Responsibility to advise CFO on a timely basis of any issues which requires support
Drive to progress projects independently with a strong desire to learn and troubleshoot own issues Experience working in, or auditing a manufacturing environment
Up to date IFRS accounting knowledge
