The Vacancy

To provide financial, administrative and clerical services in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial and administrative operations. To adhere to and maintain finance team procedures, ensuring the relevant controls are also in place and realising efficiencies wherever possible.

Finance areas are:

• Finance Ledgers (accounts receivable and accounts payable)
• Credit control
• Banking

What you’ll be doing

As a Finance Trainee (AAT Apprenticeship) your main responsibilities will be:

• Working under the daily instruction of the Finance Team Leaders and Managers in the areas listed above
• Processing daily transactions accurately and efficiently in accordance with department procedures
• Monitoring and controlling incoming communications and mailbox of designated area
• Escalating any errors; omissions; risks and unusual issues promptly and effectively
• Always encouraging good office management such as: consistent digital archiving; tidy desks and work areas; secure waste control; appropriate health & safety; safeguarding of equipment provided
• Assisting in regular reconciliations, highlighting any issues promptly and effectively
• Supporting the implementation of change to improve efficiencies and reporting to meet the strategic needs of the business
• Supporting the development of Unit4, the Finance Accounting system, including further development of the reporting and the efficiency of finance processes
• Ensuring group accounting policies are consistently applied
• With support, assisting colleagues with ad hoc projects and queries
• Assisting with external year end audit as required and requested

Key Performance Indicators:

• Month end closure in accordance with timetable given
• Meet any area specific deadlines as set out in area procedures/checklists
• Project deadlines met as and when set by department
• Completing AAT studies and final qualification in line with college timetable
