About Group Controller Directorate
The activities of Group Controller Directorate include accounting for all HMRC activity; governance, risk, assurance, and control; finance systems and accreditation, data, and processes for HMRC. The directorate is also heavily involved in projects to transform our finance processes and systems and is responsible for the finance profession across HMRC.
Group Controller Directorate is currently made up of approximately 260 staff across multiple offices and our vision is to help steer HMRC towards a better understanding of its key risks and to ensure these are well controlled and to deliver a world-class customer service through plain, simple and well-controlled finance systems and processes, in support of Finance and Departmental Transformation.
Financial Controls & Data Project Manager
This role is based within the Group Controller Directorate and provides you with an opportunity to be a key part of our digital transformation with a focus on data and controls. You will be responsible for project managing the development of Finance data management initiatives across the Chief Finance Office (CFO) Directorates and driving forward controls through the transformation of segregation of roles within our IT systems.

The role provides you with an opportunity to be a key part of HMRC digital transformation with a focus on data and controls.
The role includes:
Ensuring that Finance data is effectively managed, controlled and assured, in line with wider HMRC, cross government and external data standards.
Ensuring effective control and assurance of segregation of duties in HMRC systems and processes.
Collaborating across HMRC to influence the delivery of data and financial control standards.
Project managing the implementation of Finance data and segregation strategies.
The role will require exceptional leadership, collaboration and influencing skills and the successful candidate will need to be highly motivated self-starter who thrives on working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
The role may include line management responsibilities and will involve occasional overnight stays.
Responsibilities
Project manage the delivery of key data ambitions, whilst aligning to wider HMRC and cross government requirements.
Ensuring that Finance data transformation is delivered as a coherent package in line with HMRC requirements, acting a key co-ordinator between the different data transformation bodies and Directors.
Develop and embed Finance Data assurance, ensuring Finance Data is aligned with HMRC Data policies and standards (including Data quality, maturity).
Support the development of a Finance Data accreditation model which aligns with HMRC Data accreditation.
Project manage the transformation of segregation of duties within HMRC systems and processes.
Champion – Embed segregation culture and requirements at Director level and into Transformation.
Develop and lead the financial segregation strategy and plan.
Essential Criteria
Experience in data management in a wide diverse organisation and/or qualifications in data management
Project Management qualifications and/or extensive experience in project management
Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills
Desirable Criteria
Knowledge/experience of one or more of the following:
Segregation of duties and role management in IT systems
Risk Management in processes/systems
Working in geographically-dispersed teams
