Assistant Financial Analyst
Salary: £25,000 to £30,000
Location: Stoke on Trent
Job Type: Permanent
Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday
Our Client who are based in Newcastle under Lyme are looking to recruit an Assistant Financial Analyst to join their existing successful teams. The successful candidate will be working closely with the SFA, this role is responsible for supporting all operational details, internal processes, analysis, reports and reconciliations relating to ecommerce, VAT and the Invoice Finance facility. This role will contribute positively to the business' reputation through the timely and accurate completion of work activities whilst delivering exceptional and consistent quality and service levels to their internal and external customers. They also offer hybrid working too.
Main Duties:
Prepare and submit EU VAT compliance reports for all Group Companies
Balance sheet and control account reconciliation for VAT account
Assist the development of internal controls, systems and processes including VAT and ecommerce
Support credit management clerical procedures and KYC checks including credit checks
Support SFA with operational management of the invoice finance facility
Perform weekly/monthly bank reconciliations and monthly credit note check
Weekly and monthly reconciliations and analysis of Invoice Finance and e-commerce
All C43 project monitoring, analysis and reporting eg internal trackers, grant applications
Ownership of Bank Payment Templates
Support with Utilities management and commercial matters as required
Prepare financial analysis and reporting as required using Escape, Excel & other platforms
Support the Assistant Accountant with Group Company Accounting as required
Support the SFA and AA with ecommerce (and C247) sales, stock movement, commission, margin reporting and rebate procedures
Any other tasks deemed necessary to support business needs and/or cover for colleagues
Pro-active ownership and ongoing improvement to ensure
Accounts are clean and fully reconciled
Internal controls are reviewed, refined and implemented
Reporting and analysis is both accurate and on time with all deadlines met (or communicated)
Strong, supportive relationships with department, customers and colleagues
Key Skills:
Knowledge of financial analysis and reporting is essential
Pro-active, organised and self-motivated to hit the ground running and make sure the job gets done
Good interpersonal and communication skills to fit easily into the small but very busy team
Solution oriented with strong problem-solving skills and flexibility to change priorities
Diligent and reliable with an impeccable eye for detail to work quietly and consistently to high standards
Strong IT knowledge with advanced Excel skills – V-lookups, Pivot tables, IF statements
AAT part qualified (or equivalent) with minimum 3 years' relevant knowledge
