Assistant Accountant

Kettering

Hours – Monday to Friday full time

Salary £27-33k

My client based in Kettering is recruiting an Assistant Accountant to work in their Finance Department.

Reporting to the Financial Controller the successful candidate will provide financial and accounting support and advice to the UK based finance team; the China Office team; and other business areas.

The key responsibilities of the role will be:-

Deputise for the Financial Controller in their absence including preparation of management accounts and forecasts.
Provide support and advice to the finance team, the China Office and other departments.
Able to cover each of the roles within the department.
Maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
Process expense claims and credit card statements.
Responsible for VAT reporting.
Manage currency accounts and revaluations.
Ownership of the subscription renewal process.
Monitor capital approvals and expenditure. Reconcile to budgets and the asset register including asset tagging.The successful candidate …

Will have proven multi-discipline accounts department experience including involvement in the production of monthly management accounts.
Preferably AAT qualified (or equivalent)
Will demonstrate their abilities as a team player, capable of developing others in order to strengthen the overall departmental skills matrix.
Strong Excel skills are a prerequisite of the position.
An understanding of the consolidation of accounts, payroll experience and some experience of accounting for foreign currency transactions would also be desirable characteristics.On offer is a competitive salary up to £33k plus good benefits.
