Job Description
Our client is an insurance broker which specialises in motor fleets throughout the UK. It is part of a group of companies, a diversified supplier of insurance, telecoms, fuel cards, vehicle tracking and other key business services to companies of all sizes worldwide.

Since launching the brand with two sales people, they're now a team of 15 and are looking for a third SME new business broker who can help take their organic growth to the next level. The aim is to double monthly sales as quickly as possible, as well as to establish the insurance sales and broking operation as the best and most envied in the Group in how it works, seeks and delivers improvement and systematically delivers results.

They are seeking a person who effectively balances process and compliance rigour with the fast-paced demands of a growing sales operation – and somebody who enjoys the adrenaline rush of negotiating deals with insurers and winning business as an integral part of a sales team.

Key responsibilities of the role (following the lifecycle of the broking process):

Working with the sales team to extract all pertinent information from a prospect in order to gain the best understanding of a risk so it can be presented to insurers (personally or through a broking platform).
Synthesising all prospect information available in order to present it to insurers in such a way that the best commercial terms are given on behalf of a prospect.
Selecting a market strategy that enables you to gain the optimal number of commercial terms.
Negotiating with insurer partners in order to help win the business.
Working with the sales team in order to present terms back to a prospect in an easily understood manner for the benefit of the prospect and to increase sales conversion rates.
Working with the sales team to support potential price negotiations in order to win new business albeit at an optimal margin.
Looking for insurance cross-sell opportunities beyond motor insurance and working directly with a client to gather the right information in order to gain a price and present terms to win the business.
Creating and maintaining excellent client and prospect files so new business or renewal business can be won the following year (utilising Applied TAM insurance system). Updating Salesforce CRM to ensure clarity and accuracy of the active sales funnel.
Identifying opportunities for improvement in the sales funnel and working as part of a team to drive incremental improvements over time.
Working in an FCA compliant manner at all time and actively identifying process failures in the sales team to ensure improvements can be made over time.

The experience and skills that we are looking for include:

A questioning nature and an ability to read between the lines in order to truly understand a prospect.
High attention to detail.
An understanding and enjoyment of negotiation.
Excellent communication skills and the motivation to positively challenge colleagues in the name of compliance and process rigour.
Previous broking experience in a business to business environment.
Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Certificate – preferred, or currently working towards.
