Job Description
Our clients story begins in the 1950’s with the acquisition of a farm in Yorkshire. Initially the business specialised in importing and grading overseas potatoes for grocery retailers. Soft-fruit growing was introduced to provide a revenue stream in the summer and, from their initial crop, today the business produces over 2,000 tonnes of soft fruit for some of the UK’s biggest grocery retailers.

To support their continued development and enable further improvements across the finance and IT functions, they are now looking to recruit a high calibre Management Account to support the owners to deliver effective financial control, on time and accurate reporting and detailed management information to support the strategic direction of the farming and other diversification enterprises. The role will partner the Head of Finance and will work closely with the owners, being part of the senior management team.

The role will be hands on, providing accurate and effective financial control across the whole group of companies with key responsibilities including the likes of:

* Ensuring smooth running of finances for the various businesses in partnership with the Head of Finance

* Development and production of monthly management accounts and MI as required

* Development of the finance systems, controls and processes that will meet the current and future needs of the group

* Production of Statutory accounts and liaison with auditors on all account and tax matters

* Banking and bank reconciliations

* Assist owners in preparing and achieving overall business strategy (including forecast cash flows, budgets and forecasting)

* Support new business ventures with any financial input as required

* Treasury management including cash flow and forecasting

What We Are Keen to See From You…

The ideal individual will be a qualified Accountant with an excellent academic record and relevant industry accountancy experience to date.

You will be be a real team player, proactive with gravitas, impact and excellent communication skills as well as the ability to work closely with an entrepreneurial business owner. Demonstrable commercial acumen is essential. The ability to manage and lead a team and be fully conversant with finance systems, such as Sage or similar, is essential, as is a good knowledge of Excel. Experience of costings and operations finance is also required.

Additionally you will demonstrate strong integrity, understanding the need for confidentiality and strong governance in the business.
