Financial Controller
Part time – 3 days per week
£65k pro-rata
We are looking for a Financial Controller to join a financial services provider based in Kent / SE London. This is a part time position 3 days week offering hybrid working.
As the Financial Controller you will support the CFO and work with wider management to deliver robust, efficient, and effective financial control, financial reporting and financial performance management processes across the society.
Specific responsibilities:
Oversee the effective operation and lead the improvement of accounting, banking, P2P and financial control systems and procedures that support the business and appropriately control and record the day-to day activities of the Society.
Coordinate delivery of the monthly business MI with management and lead the timely completion of the financial close and production of financial, investment and solvency MI.
Support the CFO in partnering the business and providing financial insights to drive business performance including: annual planning and budgeting; sales and expense oversight and forecasting; product costings and profitability analysis; and ad-hoc analysis.
Monitor and maintain up to date cashflow forecasts. Ensure excess cash and investments are invested in line with our Investment strategy and risk appetite.
Establish an effective working relationship with our Fund Managers and ensure timely, accurate recording and insightful quarterly Board reporting on Investment Performance.
Take a lead role in the management and delivery of the year-end process: coordinate with investment managers, external actuaries and tax advisers; lead financial statement, regulatory reporting and Board paper drafting; own the day-to-day External Auditor relationship.Essential Criteria:
Qualified Chartered Accountant (or equivalent)
Experience of retail insurance businesses and of UK/EU insurance regulatory requirements.
Solid understanding of UK (or similar) insurer accounting, reporting and external audit requirements.
Strong practical knowledge and experience of financial control, financial reporting and financial management processes.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and you thrive in a team environment.
