The role

With a direct reporting line to the CEO, the Financial Controller role will be primarily responsible for the delivery of monthly financial reporting for the UK & NL entities, budget planning and forecasting, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures. The successful candidate will be required to work closely with key stakeholders and departmental heads throughout the business. A key focus will be on profit improvement initiatives which the Financial Controller will be an active participant whilst maintaining the highest of product quality and standards.

Additionally, the Financial Controller will oversee the work of the finance team in Holland and will be required to travel once per month for month end close, which will likely be around a 2-3 day trip on average. The financial controller will also work in conjunction with the CEO on a wide range of business-related initiatives along with being responsible for the budgeting and forecasting process along with supporting the wider business on costs and margin analysis.

This role represents an excellent opportunity to join a growing multinational SME that has a defined path for progression to becoming their Finance Director over a period of time. It will offer the successful candidate a chance to fully understand the key drivers of a business, with the benefit of being developed in the role directly by the CEO and non-exec director who works in a part time CFO capacity.

Job Description

* Preparation of monthly management accounts for both UK & NL entities, including variance analysis and commentary to the Management Board Packs identifying areas of risk and opportunity to improve profitability

* Weekly KPI and flash reporting for the Management Meetings

* Key reconciliations of customers and suppliers

* Management responsibility for 1 transactional member of staff within the finance function

* Preparation and review of financial controls

* Preparation of annual budgets and year end accounts

* Oversight of compliance for both UK & NL on VAT returns, pensions and PAYE

* Ad hoc research into technical accounting and tax matters

* Key point of contact for the statutory audit process and liaising with external auditors on all accounting and tax matters

* Cashflow forecasting

* Responsibility for the planning, budgeting & forecasting process

* Assisting the MD with the R&D tax credit return process

* Analysis of operational maters including purchasing and inventory with ad hoc reporting into rising costs, stock and cost of goods reporting, sales margin reporting, new products, exchange rate impacts and shipment delays

* Build trusted relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers
